چکیده

Aim: Tunneled hemodialysis catheters are frequently used for patients and provide temporary venous access. However, it causes complications such as catheter-related infection, pneumothorax hematoma. In this study, we aimed to evaluate the infections, catheter patency rates that developed after use of tunnel connected three different access routes. Material Methods: A total 145 who underwent due chronic renal failure were placed on permanent included. jugular vein route was first choice dialysis route, when other routes needed femoral second choice, while subclavian third choice. Results: The group had highest infection rate lowest (both p<0.001). at end one year 65.3%, 95.6%, 64.0% vein, respectively. At year, 57.3%, 6.7%, 32.0%, Conclusion: Although is entry in patients, veins also used. best option terms infection. hand, worst with rate.

Bacteremia associated with tunneled, cuffed hemodialysis catheters.

Bacteremia is a frequent complication associated with tunneled, cuffed, permanent catheters (PCs). The incidence, spectrum of infecting organisms, and optimal treatment for catheter-associated bacteremia (CAB) have not been clearly established. In this study, 101 chronic hemodialysis (HD) patients with PCs for blood access were prospectively monitored for infection during a 24-month period. Dat...

Management of bacteremia associated with tunneled-cuffed hemodialysis catheters.

The dominant problem associated with the use of tunneled-cuffed catheters is infection. When this occurs, two issues must be addressed: treatment of the infection and management of the catheter. The purpose of this 2-yr study was to report the results of a prospective observational series in which catheter management was based on the clinical picture presented by the patient. Data were collecte...

Locking of tunneled hemodialysis catheters with gentamicin and heparin.

INTRODUCTION Catheter-related infection (CRI) is a major cause of morbidity and mortality in patients receiving hemodialysis. Antibiotic locking of these catheters has been shown to increase both the success of systemic antibiotic treatment in line sepsis, and to reduce the incidence of sepsis. We have studied the use of gentamicin locking of catheters (in combination with standard heparin rath...

Survival of tunneled hemodialysis catheters after percutaneous placement.

BACKGROUND Tunneled catheters are becoming increasingly used as a permanent dialysis access. Easy way of insertion and good long-term patency make them competitive to fistulas in some groups of patients. METHODS Late complications and survival of 180 tunneled catheters inserted from June 2010 to December 2013 in 171 unselected hemodialysis patients were analyzed. RESULTS The cumulative time...

Practical Aspects of Nontunneled and Tunneled Hemodialysis Catheters

Nontunneled hemodialysis catheters (NTHCs) are typically used when vascular access is required for urgent renal replacement therapy. The preferred site for NTHC insertion in acute kidney injury is the right internal jugular vein followed by the femoral vein. When aided by real-time ultrasound, mechanical complications related to NTHC insertion are significantly reduced. The preferred site for t...
